Prayer at the Lord’s House
Bethany and Maple Grove United Methodist Churches have prayer time on every Saturday morning. This is precious time to come and listen God’s voice through our prayer in the house of the Lord. Praying at the house of the Lord is very significant because it brings God’s powerful presence that eventually blesses our daily life journey. We have many concerns and worries about our present and future life. However, we also experience that we are very limited to handle each of our and others worries except keep worrying without stopping, which we do not want.
2 Chr. 7:1-3 says, As soon as Solomon finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. And the priests could not enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD’s house. When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the LORD on the temple, they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement and worshipped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.
This is a powerful example that we need to pray at the house of the Lord because this church could be filled with the glory of the Lord. Then people in the world should be able to see it and they will naturally and automatically bow down before the Lord and worship the Lord. This is the way our God brings revival into our lives. We need to pray, pray at each household, pray at our work place, and pray at the house of the Lord. I, as your pastor, would like to encourage and challenge each of you to come, come to the house of the Lord on each Saturday and seek the glory of the Lord and our churches shall be filled with God’s presence. Come, just come and pray to our Lord. People in the world will see the glory of the Lord, which will bring them to our Lord Jesus Christ very naturally; because, we all were created in his image that we were designed to worship our Lord.
CHURCH CONFERENCE – Today (Feb 25), following worship service, there will be a Church Conference meeting regarding the sale of a small portion of church property. This is the rescheduled meeting, due to weather, from February 4.
CHURCH COUNCIL - A significant outreach program for Vacation Bible School and the children was discussed. The date/time will be announced soon, after checking with nearby churches to avoid overlap or conflicting schedules.
With the Fellowship Hall loan now paid off, a 'Note-Burning' service is being planned to celebrate the 'debt-free' Fellowship Hall. More details regarding the date and plans will be forthcoming.
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE AND BE INVOLVED – Maple Grove currently needs a person willing to prepare the weekly church bulletin. Guidance and training provided. If willing or if you have questions, please see Joyce Scott or let Becky Sigmon know.
Maple Grove also needs a person to monitor and program the thermostat controls for the sanctuary and Sunday school rooms and the Fellowship Hall for services and various activities. Our thermostats are programmable by the week. Again, guidance and training is available. If willing, please see Cheryl Hundley.
FROM THE CHOIR LOFT - Next practice is Tuesday evening, March 6 at 6:30 -- when the choir returns to the twice-monthly practices. Come help celebrate Easter in song, spirit and joy of the Risen Christ.

Remember the Small Money Jar – We have little Lamb of God money jars at the back of sanctuary for your use. Jesus asked us to remember our people who are in need (Lev. 19:18; Matt 22:39; Mark 12:3). God has blessed each of us and He wants us to be a blessing to others too. We can all be a missionary who cares for our community and people by sharing God’s blessing with them. Giving itself is a blessing and it brings abundant joy from the Lord.
Saturday Morning Prayer – Each Saturday morning from 8 – 10, the sanctuary is open at Maple Grove for individual prayer time. COME, kneel at the altar, sit on a pew; PRAY, share your worries and thoughts with God for our families, our church, and our community; SEEK, His guidance for each area of your life. Each prayer will be counted by our God and we will experience His goodness. Please COME PRAY.

CONGREGATIONAL BIBLE READING CHALLENGE
We are reading the Bible chronologically in 2018 together. You will find more information about this on our weekly bulletin and website (www.mgumc.com).
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. Genesis 11:4
What are you building with your life—a reputation, an ability to help others, a name for faithfulness? Or are you building a career that will make your name?
The people of Babel were building their own name and future on their own terms. They wanted the world to know them, and for many centuries it did. But the Tower of Babel and the city were finally destroyed. Eventually the Persians conquered the Babylonians. The people who wanted to be engraved on others’ memories became part of history.
Our careers easily become part of history, too. A few years from now, no matter how much we do for our companies, our only trophy may be, “Oh, do you remember so-and-so?” Like the Tower of Babel, we fall into the back of others’ memories.
We can seek to become important to other people, or we can seek to be important to God, To do that, we build up His name, not our own; we try to build His kingdom instead of our own reputation. Which are you building today?
Lord, I want Your name to be greater than mine. Help me build Your Kingdom, not my own.
